IEO ‘26 Competition is part of a series of events for the Indonesia Economic Outlook 2026 (IEO '26) which is a competition for young policymakers to provide policy recommendations to the government or related institutions.
IEO ‘26 will be hosting two competitions, namely Policy Recommendation Competition (PRC) and Policy Case Study (PCS).

IEO ‘26 Policy Recommendation Competition provides a platform for Indonesian students that have an interest in policy-making to apply their writing, presenting, and debating skills in a policy-making competition. PRC consists of Policy Recommendation Essay, Policy Recommendation Presentation, and Policy Recommendation Debate. The initial stage of this competition is Policy Recommendation Essay (PRE).
The online preliminary essay round will be conducted on 23rd June–15th September 2025, followed by a judging period on 16th September–23rd October 2025. The 8 best teams will proceed to the final offline round on 25th–26th November 2025.
Two active Indonesian undergraduate/vocational students from all domestic universities and Indonesian undergraduate students from overseas universities. Cross majors, faculties, or universities teams are allowed. Previous IEO winners (1st place) are not allowed to participate in the IEO ’26 PRC.
Early Bird (23rd June–13th July 2025): IDR 120.000
Phase 1 (14th July–10th August 2025): IDR 140.000
Phase 2 (11th August–15th September 2025): IDR 160.000

Essay submission is done via our website by clicking the ‘Policy Recommendation Competition’ button in the ‘Registration’ page and uploading the required file using the unique code that was previously sent through the participants' confirmation email. Eight teams with the best essay at the Policy Recommendation Essay (PRE) stage will proceed to the final round of IEO '26 PRC.
The final round of IEO ‘26 PRC consists of two segments, which are Policy Recommendation Presentation (PRP) and Policy Recommendation Debate (PRD).
In the Policy Recommendation Presentation (PRP) stage, each team will present their Policy Recommendation Essay to the adjudicators followed by a Question and Answer session.
In the Policy Recommendation Debate (PRD) stage, each team will play a role as a pro or contra team and discuss the given problem related to IEO ‘26’s theme and subthemes.
The IEO ‘26 Policy Case Study (PCS) is a competition where each team will have to create a policy recommendation regarding the given case study. PCS consists of two rounds, Policy Memo as the preliminary round & Video Policy Case Study as the final round of the competition. The videos from the final stage will be uploaded on the IEO '26 Instagram account.
The preliminary stage–Policy Memo–will be conducted on 23rd June–15th September 2025. The 8 best teams will proceed to the Video Policy Case Study round, with submissions on 26th October–10th November 2025. The videos would be uploaded to the IEO ‘26 Instagram account on 13th November 2025.
